The Wall Street Journal Online reports that U.S. Airlines will begin offering WiFi on its flights within 12 months, following a European and Middle Eastern trend. However, the current plan is that VoIP calls will be banned, with exceptions possible for pilots, air marshals, and airline attendents.
In addition, there is a possibility for future cell phone service, although the FCC does not forsee allowing it any time soon. As the Wall Street Journal Online points out, if cell service is offered, companies like Bose might see a huge increase in the sale of noise-cancelling headphones.
