Congress rethinking patent bill?

The debate over a "broken patent system" was addressed at the Tech Poly Summit in San Jose today. The article on ZDnet said Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA), Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and others in Congress will make a patent reform bill in the next 2 or 3 weeks. One of the key points of controversy, however, was when Carl Bass (Autodesk's CEO) said his company could be double in size if people payed for his software. There's a iscussion about this remark on Techdirt... some pretty good comments from several people. Mainly, from people saying how Bass used the BSA's (Business Software Alliance) statement saying unauthorized copies of software are costing the industry and how they simply wouldn't pay all that money for his software anyways. He should rethink his business model.
